Photographers4charity Fundraising Update

With less than a week to do till George and Rebecca’s wedding the fundraising is still going well. This week we have had four more donations to our Justgiving page. This puts our total so far up to £380 plus £93.08 in gift aid.

During the evening of the wedding we will give George and Rebecca’s guests a chance to not only donate further but to buy a page for their wedding storybook.  All of the profits from the donations will go to Cancer Research UK.

This has been made easier thanks to Loxely Colour who have given us a massive discount for one of their handcrafted Bellissimo Albums.

Just a little update as we are less than two weeks from our photographers4charity wedding. So far this week we have received three more donations. This put our total to £290 plus £67.69 gift aid supplement.

Last week we met with Rebecca and George, our wedding couple for our photographers4charity event.

Photographers all over Britain have pledged to give a day in 2009 for any deserving couples who are willing to raise money for Cancer Research.

Rebecca and George has been chosen by photographer4charity to receive free wedding photography and a DVD of all their images! In return Rebecca and George have pledged to raise as much money as they can for Cancer Research UK. For far they have raised £240 via our Just Giving page.

We intend to take the whole team with us to the wedding which includes two photographers, a make-up artist and a hair stylist. We’ll keep posting regular updates on how the fundraising is going between now and to just after the wedding.

Over 100 members of the Society of Wedding and Portrait Photographers will donate their time to raise money for cancer research by offering free wedding photography. All they ask is the bridal party and guests raise as much money as possible.

After being diagnosed with cancer in February 2008 and thankfully recovering well, I decided I wanted to give something back. On hearing of an American photographer who was offering her services to a bride and groom to raise money for charity I decided I would like to offer the same. My aim, to raise money for cancer research. Then another photographer offered and then another.  Before I knew it over 100 photographers from the SWPP were on board from all over the country.

So now we need to find couples up and down the country that are getting married between October and December 2009, who may have been touched by cancer or you think deserve a little help. Couples themselves or friends and relatives’ can nominate them.

What is it ?

Photographers all over Britain have pledged to give a day in October, November and December 2009 for any deserving couples who are willing to raise money for Cancer Research UK. Each Couple will be asked to raise as much money as they can via the Just Giving Page http://www.justgiving.com/photographers4charity

In return the photographer will work the whole day for free and the couple will receives as a minimum a DVD of photographs from the day. Some photographers will give them more but this is up to the individual photographer.

How Do I Apply ?

If you know a couple that you believe deserves free wedding photography, either because they’ve been touched by cancer in some way or maybe in these hard times would not be able to afford a photographer then, in the first instance, please contact the Liason Officer for your county below saying why you think your couple chould have free photography. The couple will need to pledge to raise at least £300 but if they have 30 guests coming to their wedding it would mean only £10 donation from each couple. The couple that raises the most money for Cancer Research UK will get a wonderful prize of a very special wedding album.
